Great job on the show! The girls and boys did great, bravo and congrats!-Megan
We moved from Toronto to New York last year. Our daughter was instantly happy and at home with The Dance Gallery Family! The teachers are all very supportive and enthusiastic. The Company participated in wonderful events all year introducing us to new aspects of New York and Westchester. We participated in musical theatre, and a wide variety of forms of dance. The Dance Gallery was the most important aspect of our daughter’s year helping her to feel settled, make great friends and grow her confidence and love of dance! -Sarah Chenoweth
Congratulations on the recital! What an amazing group of dancers and teachers! We truly enjoyed every second of it, and Natalie had the greatest experience. She just LOVES dance-Aiko A.
Thank you for providing Sofia a wonderful dance experience. she had a great year at The Dance Gallery. Looking forward to next year, Sofia has already asked to take an additional class-Jennifer P.
My daughter has been a student at The Dance Gallery for the past 5 years and she has enjoyed every moment!!! Her first performance was the Nutcracker in 2014 and she was youngest mice at 3 years old. I was so nervous thinking that she will not walk out on stage but then she came out with the biggest smile and danced her heart out. The Dance Gallery has boosted her self confidence, performance skills and has allowed her to to tap into the art of acting. I can’t express enough how wonderful the teachers are, but what I can say is thank you for the lessons, the discipline and the respect and love for the art of dancing that you have bestowed upon my daughter. Thank You!!! Kelorn, mom of Jazmain-Kelorn Francis
This year at dance has taken me out of my comfort zone, learning new techniques from many different instructors. Having the chance to work with younger dancers, as a teacher assistant, makes me happy-Olivia T.
Dance is an art of expression where dancers have a safe space to process their feelings. Over the past year, dance has helped me express my feelings through movement. My emotions ranged from pain, anger, happiness and much more. The DGNY has helped me grow as a dancer and has given me the opportunity to release my emotions. I am grateful for the space and hope to continue to grow as a dancer in the coming years-Eva S.
Thank you so much for the beautiful dance recital. It is my daughters favorite activity. The smile on her face was priceless. In a competitive world of sports and dance, dance is her outlet to just be and enjoy-Nicola M.
My daughter has been dancing at The Dance Gallery for six years, and it has been a wonderful experience for her. The teachers are supportive, enthusiastic and dedicated to helping all the dancers. In addition to regular classes, the Dance Gallery staff goes out of their way to find varied and exciting dance opportunities for the Dance Companies to perform. While my daughter is not planning to pursue a career in dance, her experience at The Dance Gallery has been a very important part of her middle and high school years, and she has made many wonderful “dance friends-Nancy Eisenman
New Owner Takes Over at The Dance Gallery in Tuckahoe
Dance Teacher with Deep Local Roots Looks to Build on to the Dance Studio’s Success The Dance Gallery, the Tuckahoe-based dance studio that specializes in teaching a variety of dance styles to all ages, has changed owners.Jennifer Morra-DeFabbia, a local resident who has taught dance in Westchester for over 20 years, acquired the studio in April from former owner Shannon DiNota. “I am thrilled to continue to build a dance community in the Tuckahoe, Bronxville and Eastchester area, as well as nearby towns, where students can learn and create in a safe and positive environment,” said Mrs. Morra-DeFabbia, whose two daughters are both dancers and will be students at the studio.
Born and raised in Eastchester, Mrs. Morra-DeFabbia has deep local roots. Her father, Anthony “TJ” Morra, was a professional musician who performed throughout Westchester County and was a member of the Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners. Her mother, Stephanie, has worked at a Tuckahoe pre-school for over 25 years.
Mrs. Morra-DeFabbia is married to Jerry DeFabbia, the owner and director of Around the Horn Baseball Camp, as well a co-owner of Rise and Grind Baseball Facility on Marbledale Road in Tuckahoe. “For both my husband and me, it is important we give back to our community. I am looking forward to sharing my passion for dance with the children of the area,” said Mrs. Morra-DeFabbia.
Founded in 2012, The Dance Gallery is re-opening in September 2021, after shutting its doors during the pandemic. The studio will offer a variety of classes, such as Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Ballet and Tap. With several New York City choreographers and teachers on staff, Mrs. Morra-DeFabbia said that she hopes she can “bring a little bit of NYC to Tuckahoe”.
The studio is located in the Main Street Depot, the restored former railroad substation located across the street from the Tuckahoe train station.
